ELAV is the Estonian Children's Research Network, whose vision is scientifically justified use of medicines in children.
To create ELAV, the University of Tartu, the Tartu University Hospital Foundation and the Tallinn Children's Hospital Foundation signed a cooperation agreement on March 28, 2018, based on which ELAV operates within the framework of the Clinical Research Center.
Mission
The mission of the network is to bring together pediatricians, pediatric nurses, pharmacists, chemists, clinical research specialists and mathematicians to jointly
- inform and conduct academic studies in children that follow good clinical practice,
- to combine the knowledge of experts in the field and offer it to both academic researchers and the pharmaceutical industry for conducting clinical studies in children,
- and to mediate Estonian researchers with similar international networks.
Activities
ELAV assists in various activities related to pediatric studies:
- Preparation of documentation for the ethics committee
- Preparation of the research budget
- Communication with the Estonian Medicines Agency
- Preparation of feasibility assessments
- Contract discussion with sponsors
- Identification of local resources for conducting the study
- Organization and mediation of training for the study team
- Organization of translation of study documentationMonitoring of study data
